Parenting Comes in Many Forms: Caregivers Do Not Have to Do It Alone

BOCA RATON, FL - July 22, 2026. Parents show up for children in many different ways. They may be biological parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, relatives, guardians or other trusted adults who have stepped into an important caregiving role. While every family may look different, children benefit from having caring adults who are present, patient and willing to learn alongside them.

One thing that holds true across all types of families is that no one should feel like they have to figure everything out by themselves. Raising a child is hard work, and it takes a village. That village can include neighbors, teachers, coaches, faith leaders, therapists and other parents who understand the daily challenges. Reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of strength and a commitment to doing what is best for the child.

Community programs, support groups and online resources can offer practical advice and emotional support. Many caregivers find that simply talking with someone who has been through a similar situation makes a big difference. Whether it is help with homework, a ride to practice or just a listening ear, small acts of support can lighten the load.

The most important thing is that children feel safe, loved and supported. The person providing that care does not have to be perfect. They just have to be there. And they do not have to do it alone.
