Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Police Chief Jeffrey Norman took a personal turn this week in the ongoing conversation about youth gun violence, sharing stories about the adults who kept them grounded as young men. Speaking at a community event, both leaders stressed that while policing and policy matter, the role of parents and mentors cannot be ignored.

Johnson recalled how his mother and grandmother set clear expectations and checked his friends.
