Her advice for modern parents is not to throw out all structure. Instead, she suggests carving out small pockets of unscheduled time. Let kids wander a bit, let them get bored, and resist the urge to fill every minute with a lesson or a playdate. The discomfort of boredom is where creativity and grit actually grow. It is a hard habit to break in a world full of distractions, but the payoff is a child who trusts their own judgment. That, she argues, is the real gift of a lo-fi childhood.
