Family Matters — Ignite Parenting Resources Bring Discipleship Home

A new initiative called Ignite Parenting is rolling out practical resources aimed at helping families weave faith into everyday life, with a particular focus on households that have little or no background in the Bible. The program moves beyond traditional church-based teaching, offering tools designed for parents who may feel unprepared or uncertain about leading spiritual conversations at home.

The resources include simple discussion guides, activity ideas, and age-appropriate lessons that do not assume prior knowledge of scripture. Organizers say the goal is to remove the intimidation factor and make discipleship feel natural rather than like a formal classroom exercise. One of the key challenges they address is the gap between what parents want to teach and what they feel equipped to handle, especially when the parents themselves are new to faith.

Ignite Parenting emphasizes that discipleship does not require a theology degree or a perfect family structure. Instead, the materials encourage small, consistent steps like reading a short passage together or talking about how kindness and forgiveness play out in daily conflicts. The approach is meant to be flexible, allowing families to adapt the content to their own routines and cultural contexts.

Early feedback from pilot groups suggests that parents appreciate the focus on authenticity over performance. Several participants noted that the resources helped them move from feeling like they had to have all the answers to simply being willing to explore questions alongside their children. The program is now expanding to more communities, with plans to translate materials into multiple languages in the coming year.
