DOTHAN, Ala. - The Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention is opening its doors to parents who want to build stronger skills and find support in their daily parenting journey. A Basic Parenting Class is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center's location in Dothan.
The three-hour session aims to give caregivers practical tools they can use right away. Organizers say the class covers everyday challenges like communication, setting boundaries, and managing stress in the home. It is meant for any parent or guardian, whether they are new to raising children or looking for fresh ideas.
The Exchange Center has long served the Wiregrass area as a resource for family wellness and child safety. Staff members who lead the class bring hands-on experience and a calm, non-judgmental approach. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and talk through real situations they face at home.
Space may be limited, so those interested are encouraged to reach out to the center ahead of time to confirm their spot. The class is part of the center's ongoing effort to strengthen families and prevent abuse before it starts. For parents who feel overwhelmed or simply want to learn more, this session offers a low-pressure way to get connected with local support.
